El Ejército del Perú en el departamento de Tumbes, tiene acantonada la Primera Brigada de Infantería siendo su sector de responsabilidad desde Hito Capones hasta Hito Chorrillos, durante el año 2020 sucedió la Pandemia del COVID-19, debido a eso ordenaron el cierre de fronteras a fin de no propagar el virus en nuestro país. Los objetivos de la investigación fueron identificar las fortalezas y debilidades de la 1ra Brigada de Infantería en la seguridad de su sector de responsabilidad, Analizar las funciones de la 1ra Brigada de Infantería en la frontera Norte y en la seguridad de su sector de Responsabilidad, y analizar los procedimientos que realiza la 1ra Brigada de Infantería en la frontera Norte para brindar seguridad en su sector de Responsabilidad. El enfoque fue cualitativo. La muestra fueron los oficiales de la Brigada en estudio, las técnicas utilizadas fueron la entrevista abierta, la indagación documental y la video grabación. La conclusión general es que la presencia de la Primera Brigada de Infantería es de vital importancia para la Seguridad de la Frontera Norte del Perú; el año 2020 debido a no contar con un estudio sobre las fortalezas y debilidades de sus capacidades, se comprobó que no se encontraba preparada para actuar ante una emergencia sanitaria y migración civil extranjera, la cual quedo en manifiesto por los planes vigentes, procedimientos, equipamiento, entrenamiento y personal. Sin embargo, por las capacidades y experiencia de los diferentes comandos que labora en la Brigada se pudo cumplir con la misión de acuerdo al Plan de Operaciones “Prorroga COVID-19 1ra Brig Inf FI 2020”, funciones que se iban determinando en el transcurso en las Acciones Militares en las que participo la Brigada ante las nuevas amenazas que figuran en el Plan Institucional de Inteligencia Peru, being a country with an extensive and rugged territory, has the need to organize its Armed Forces and National Police to provide protection along the borders within their respective sectors of responsibility. The objectives of the research were to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the 1st Infantry Brigade in securing its area of responsibility, to analyze the functions of the 1st Infantry Brigade on the northern border and in the security of its area of responsibility, and to analyze the procedures carried out by the 1st Infantry Brigade on the northern border to provide security within its sector of responsibility. The approach was qualitative. The sample consisted of officers from the brigade under study. The techniques used were open interviews, documentary research, and video recording. The general conclusion is that the presence of the First Infantry Brigade is of vital importance for the security of Peru’s northern border. In 2020, due to the lack of a study on the strengths and weaknesses of its capabilities, it was found that the brigade was not prepared to respond to a health emergency and foreign civilian migration. This was evident in existing plans, procedures, equipment, training, and personnel.
